Air Force Surges

The Air Force Surge initiative is a very important effort; one we should feel honored to be able to support.

Objective:
To optimize available Military Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) resources to increase support and education within units, and throughout the installation. They will serve in a forward role within units and will be vectored by the local CAIB/IDS to address specific issues, demographics, units or career fields. The goal of this initiative is to promote positive coping skills.

Mission Statement:
The Surge MFLC is being requested to support a line of effort (LOE) “Targeted Resilience Outreach”, along with 5 other LOEs resulting from Fall 2016 AF Suicide Summit held to aggressively address the Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force goal to reduce AF suicides by 50% in CY 2016. MFLC objective will be to increase support and education within units and throughout the installation. They will serve in a forward role within targeted units and will be vectored by the local Integrated Delivery System/Community Action Information Board (IDS/CAIB) helping agencies. Their role will be to address specific issues, demographics, units or career fields in accordance with the overarching goal to promote positive coping skills thereby hoping to reduce suicides in the AF by 50%.
